Laundry work sounds easy to fit around delivery apps until you count both drives, the folding, and the machine time. Poplin can be worth checking if you already have the setup. The offer still has to pay for the whole job.
This is a researched overview, not a report of my own completed Poplin orders. The original October 2024 article did not include personal earnings records. I have corrected its pay claims and removed the suggestion that you can freely set prices for extra services.
Poplin Laundry Pro pay starts below the customer price
As checked September 9, 2026, Poplin’s Laundry Pro page lists starting earnings of $0.75 per pound for Standard service and $1.50 per pound for Express, plus tips. It lists a $22.50 minimum worker payout per order before tips. Check the current offer and terms for your location.
The customer site advertises Standard at $1 per pound and Express at $2 per pound in most ZIP codes, with higher prices in some areas. Those customer prices are not the worker’s take-home rate. My original article incorrectly presented $1 to $2 per pound as worker earnings.
I would also skip building a budget around the company’s top-earner examples. A result from its highest earners does not tell you what a new account in your neighborhood will receive.
How does the minimum payout affect a small order?
At the advertised Standard starting rate of $0.75 per pound, 30 pounds equals $22.50. Below that weight, the minimum matters. These examples apply the starting rate and minimum listed on Poplin’s Laundry Pro page, checked September 10, 2026:
| Finished laundry weight | Weight × $0.75 | With the listed $22.50 minimum |
|---|---|---|
| 20 pounds | $15.00 | $22.50 |
| 30 pounds | $22.50 | $22.50 |
| 40 pounds | $30.00 | $30.00 |
These are calculations, not completed orders or individual pay quotes. Check the offer shown to you. A smaller order still involves pickup, return, washing and folding, so the minimum payout alone does not establish whether it is worth your time.
Run the order through a simple cost check
Illustrative example, not an actual order: suppose a 40-pound Standard order pays the listed starting rate of $0.75 per pound. That is $30 before tips and expenses.
| Example item | Amount |
|---|---|
| 40 pounds × $0.75 | $30 |
| Assumed supplies, utilities and vehicle costs | $8 |
| Remaining before tax | $22 |
| If hands-on work and driving total two hours | $11 per working hour |
The $8 is an assumption to replace with your own costs, not a measured Poplin average. Extra loads, longer drives or more folding change the result. Machine cycles also occupy your equipment and create a deadline, even when you are not standing beside the washer. Do not count an unreceived tip as money you already made.
Make sure your setup can handle the work
Poplin lists a smartphone, washer/dryer access, transportation, detergent, clear bags, labels and a scale among the needed supplies. Its signup requirements include being at least 18, eligible to work in the U.S., and consenting to a background check. Review the official signup guidance before buying equipment.
Picture where you will sort, fold and store each order. If that space is already occupied by your own laundry, the extra order has to go somewhere. Keep customers’ loads separate and follow their care instructions.
Fit the deadline around your other gigs
Poplin describes Standard as next-day service and Express as same-day or overnight. My old blanket “8 p.m. pickup and 8 p.m. return” wording was too broad. Use the actual pickup and return requirements shown for the order.
Plan the pickup drive and the return drive separately. Being nearby tonight does not mean you will be nearby tomorrow. Do not accept a laundry commitment assuming a food-delivery route will conveniently take you past the house.
The multi-app guide explains how to avoid competing commitments. For other work types, compare the delivery-app options. Choose work that fits your equipment, time and local demand, then track whether it actually pays.
